Teresa O’Brien Delmonico August 22, 1925 - January 20, 2020 Teresa O’Brien Delmonico, our Irish Rose, passed away on January 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving daughters. Teresa raised seven daughters who were her pride and joy. She shared her married life of 51 years with her handsome Patrick Delmonico, the love of her life. Before becoming a mom, Teresa attended Lemoyne College and St. Josephs Hospital Nursing School attaining her RN degree. In so many ways Teresa was ahead of her time. In the 1960’s she practiced yoga, sold vitamins and embraced vegetarianism. The latter was much to the chagrin of her Italian in-law family! Teresa loved hitting the tennis ball and taking nightly neighborhood walks with her sister Mary. She enjoyed a brief, albeit unremarkable , stint on the golf greens. With a sense of adventure Teresa embarked on many stateside trips, as well as treks across the pond. In a break with traditional gender roles, Teresa traveled to Africa with her sister and girlfriend. The three ladies bid bon voyage to their husbands and children and enjoyed a girls trip like none before it! Teresa’s pearls of wisdom were cherished by her contemporaries, her daughters, their friends and her grandchildren. In later years Teresa’s funny bone went into overdrive and she elicited a laugh at a moments notice. Her joy of singing was clearly surpassed by her ability to carry a tune. The high notes could knock one out of ones shoes but this handicap never deterred Teresa from bursting into song. Her Nana-isms are the stuff of legends. “ Kindness, that is what life is all about. “ Teresa was predeceased by her beloved husband Patrick and her best friend, her sister Mary Drescher.

She is survived by her seven daughters, Diane, Martha, Jean, Patty, Joanne, Carol and Kitty, her son-in-laws, her eleven grandchildren and her two great granddaughters. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the devoted staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center. An additional ton of gratitude and love is extended to Teresas “ eighth daughter” Taneesha O’Neal.

Calling hours will be from 10am-12pm Saturday, January 25 at Gang Memorial Chapel in Syracuse. The calling hours are inclusive of an informal memorial service at 11:30am. In lieu of donations, take a tiny bit of Teresa’s wisdom and Be Kind.
