Jean Marie (Lanty) Diamond

Jean Marie (Lanty) Diamond 91, passed away March 25, 2023 with her three children by her side in  St. Petersburg , Florida where she and her late husband wintered.

Jean was the daughter of Frank and Ida Mae(Baumgardner) Lanty. Jean grew up on the Northside of Syracuse where she attended Vocational High School and met her future husband Jack Diamond. Both Jean and Jack were 1950 graduates of Vocational High School.

Jean retired in 1995 after 20 years of service with Onondaga County Dept of Social Services- Children’s Division. While still in high school. Jean worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and after graduating, worked for Travelers’ Insurance.

Jean and Jack were married October 3, 1953. This blessed union produced three children, Diane, John and Richard.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2021, brother Thomas (Louise) Lanty, sisters Mary (James) Kane, Rita (Robert) Klasen, Surviving are  her daughter Diane Vavonese,  her sons John (Kim) Diamond and Richard (Benjaset) Diamond,  grandsons John and Daniel Diamond along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 4-6 PM Tuesday April 25, 2023 at Gang Memorial Chapel, 104 Fordham Road at Teall Ave. A memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM immediately following calling hours.

Contributions in Jean’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
