Hugh F. Riley, 89, of Collamer passed away on Thursday at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse but has resided in Collamer most of his adult life. He was a Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the NY Power Authority in Oswego. He was involved with Boys Scouts Troop 53,Collamer. He also enjoyed SU sports, traveling, was a voracious reader, and especially loved spending time with his family. He was a volunteer at the St. Matthew’s Food Pantry and the American Red Cross and was a member of the American Legion. He was a devout parishioner of St. Matthew’s Church and then Blessed Sacrament Church. He was predeceased by his wife Kathryn Bauder Riley in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kaiser Riley, two sons Michael (Cathy) Riley, Terry (Susan Martin) Riley, a daughter Peg Riley, four grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt with Military Honors. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Food Pantry at either St. Matthew’s Church or Blessed Sacrament Church, or to Francis House.
