Howard J. Grabowski
February 25, 2020
Howard Joseph Grabowski died peacefully on February 25, 2020 a few days shy of his 88th birthday. Howard was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 40 years. In his retirement he could be seen on any day, rain or shine walking or biking around Syracuse, usually as a means of traveling to the city pools for his daily swimming routine; whether that be in the Valley or Southwest he rarely missed a day. If Howard wasn’t swimming, he was enjoying golf and fishing. But, he truly most enjoyed walking the Saturday morning Farmers’ Market and never missing an opening day for the Syracuse Chiefs with his daughter. Howard was predeceased by his daughter Mary Pat in 2016; his father, William and mother, Elizabeth; brother, William; sisters, Irene and Marion.
He will be forever cherished by; his wife, Patricia (Gass) Grabowski; daughters, Kathleen (MacLaren) Richards and Shelly Irene Grabowski; grandson Braeden William-Smith; granddaughters, Remy Ann and MacLaren Ann and a wonderful number of very special nieces, nephews, cousins and his very good friend Leo.
The family is provided a tremendous amount of comfort in knowing he and Mary Pat will again walk the Farmers’ Market and spend forever together, watching baseball.
Friends and family are welcome to call on Friday from 4-6pm at Gang Memorial Chapel ~ a Service will be held at the funeral home immediately following. The family is grateful to the wonderful 3rd floor staff at Elderwood. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you spend and enjoy the day with a loved one.
