Ewald Dittmar Grimme, 86 years old, passed away in the early morning hours of February 12, 2023. He was born September 28, 1936 to Eugenie and Otto Grimme. He immigrated from Germany in 1959. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1966. He was a welder and toolmaker for Carrier Corporation, then Miller Brewing Company until it closed, then KJ Electric, from which he retired. He met and married his wife, Marlene (also an immigrant from Germany), in 1963 in Syracuse, NY. He was a longtime active member of the Bavarian Club Almenrausch. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycling, dancing, being outdoors and caring for his yard. But most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. His unique sense of humor and one-liners will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marlene; son, Rainer Grimme (Laura) of Liverpool; daughters Sandra Stoddard (John) of Cicero and Jennifer Grimme of Liverpool; sister Margot Grum of Stuttgart, Germany; grandchildren Erika Stoddard, Erin Petit (Travis), Amanda Grimme, and Rainer Grimme Jr.
We would like to thank the staff of 6 North Irving at Crouse Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion.
