Agnes Marie Grosso passed away Friday morning August 29th, 2022 at the age of ninety-eight. She was a life resident of Syracuse and a communicant of the former Holy Trinity Church.
She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Paul Grosso, who passed in 1974, beloved son David Grosso in 2018, and her parents Louise and Joseph Schad. She was the last remaining member of her family of six brothers and five sisters, including their spouses. Predeceasing her are brothers Joseph (Eleanor), Frank (Mary), James (Agnes), Bernard (Patricia) Lawrence (Joan) and Paul Schad who died serving his country in WWII, sisters Kathryn (Francis) Kelty, Bernadine (Kenneth) Tanner, Elizabeth Ziegler Hamel (Theodore, John), Marion (Jack) Boyle and Laura Schad.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Fasulo, stepson Paul (Bud) Grosso, grandsons Jonathan (Yana) and Nathan (Jennifer) Fasolo, seven great grandchildren, Juliana, Joshua, Natalie, Lia, Jaden, Elijah and Shiloh Fasulo, and multiple nieces and nephews
Agnes , in her lifetime, worked as a cashier at McCrory's, Becker's Bakery and Modern Bakery. At sixteen years of age she worked in the ticket box at Loew's Theater (now Landmark) in downtown Syracuse during Hollywood's Golden Era. She later aided in the war effort during WWII by assembling M1911 pistols at Remington Rand. She met the love of her life ,Paul, on a blind date, with whom she had many happy years until his untimely death at the age of 54. She enjoyed time spent with her family, her pet cats, traveling, baking and gardening.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Keepsake Village for giving Agnes three years of excellent care. Thanks also to the staff of St. Camillus Nursing Facility, Unit D, for their care of Agnes in her final days.
Per Agnes' request , there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at Gang Memorial Chapel followed by Entombment in the family mausoleum at Assumption Cemetery.
