Rita J. Kesel, 92, of Syracuse passed away Thursday after a brief illness. She was born in Syracuse on July 10, 1919. Rita was the daughter of the late Anthony and Laura (Moran) Drescher. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1991, a brother Howard and sister Mary Kay Quigley. Rita was a graduate of Syracuse University and the Fordham School of Social Work. She served in the American Red Cross during World War II and was associated with several social work agencies in the area, including the Syracuse City School District. She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a former member of Drumlins Country Club and the Corinthian Club. Rita is survived by her son Robert J. (Heather Hess) Kesel Jr., a brother William Drescher, four grandchildren Kiersten, Heidi, Emma and Wolfgang, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass 10:00am Saturday in All Saints Church, Lancaster Ave. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Boys and Girls club of Syracuse.
