Mercer John White, "John" 89, was called to the Lord on November 13, 2023 while at home and in the company of family and friends. He is survived by four children: John White, Sheila Coir, Brian White, and Nancy Townsend. Also surviving him are 10 grandchildren: Jeff Whiting, Joel Whiting, Emmett McCadden, Kevin Coir, Caitlin Coir, Shannon Coir, Adam White, Brendan White, Hannah Townsend and Daisy Townsend; and seven great grandchildren: Miles Whiting, Ruby White, Darren Cronk, Ana Coir, Ava Coir, Xayonna McCadden, and Xilas McCadden. He was predeceased by Hannah White, his wife of 51 years and Mark White, his youngest child. John began his professional work in Parish, NY as a mechanic. He switched to banking, starting at the First Trust and Deposit branch in Parish. Eventually, he became a branch manager at the Warren-Adams branch. He worked at other banks, ending his banking career as a Senior Vice President at Skaneateles Bank. After banking,he briefly worked for Syracuse City Government as the Director of Operations. He was an lifelong outdoor enthusiast -- an avid hunter and fisherman as a younger man, transitioning to nature photography and cowboy action shooting competitions. He also enjoyed camping and hiking. Services Saturday at 1PM at Gang Memorial Chapel 104 Fordham Rd. at Teall Ave. Calling hours will be held 4-7pm Friday at the funeral home Burial will be private.
