Mel Davis, 73 of Bluff Point, New York went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 26th 2024; surrounded by his wife and children.

Mel was born to Melvin Abraham and Joan (Wass) Davis on April 20th 1951. He married Nancy (Burnett) Davis on October 23rd 1971. Together they raised  five children; Robert Lee Davis of Dundee, New York, April Dawn Davis-Thompson of Penn Yan, New York, Daniel Joseph (Deidra Caskey) Davis of Canandaigua, New York, Peter Andrew Davis of Florida, and Isaac Samuel (Brianna) Davis of Macedon, New York. From these unions there are 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mel was predeceased by his parents and an infant daughter, Rachel Eden Davis.

Mel worked for Silver Floss Sauerkraut Factory in Phelps, New York, the sauerkraut capital of the world. He was a jack of all trades, working in labeling, then shipping and machine maintenance. In his retirement Mel worked at Camp Whitman on Seneca Lake in ground maintenance. He especially loved the children and giving wagon rides through the woods!  In his free time Mel loved motorcycles, working on cars, and woodworking. Mel and Nancy shared a deep faith and enjoyed their faith families at the Wellspring Fellowship of Penn Yan and Saint Luke's Church of Branchport.

Most importantly he loved his family very much and there was nothing like the love he had for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He died a happy man.

Friends may visit from 10-11 am at Saint Luke's Church, 121 West Lake Road Branchport, New York, October 3rd 2024 . A service will be led by the Rev'd Phillip H. Kasey at 11. Burial will follow in Gloria's Garden beside the church. The Saint Luke's Ladies will host a reception in Mel's honor at the church's parish house, 187 West Lake Road, Branchport, New York.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Camp Whitman on Seneca Lake or Saint Luke's Episcopal Church.
