Mary C. Peterson Riley passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital early Sunday morning. She will be missed by many but many were waiting for her with open arms.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Margaret Kaiser, husbands Donald Peterson, and Hugh Riley, and son, Gregory. Mary attended Assumption High School, '50. She used her time and talents as a parent aid for Madison County DSS and enjoyed guiding families that were in challenging situations. Through the years Mary spent countless summers camping with her family in Clayton, NY. She was an avid seamstress and quilter providing beautiful quilts to friends and family. She was a wonderful writer and poet. She was a lector at St. Mary's Church and very devoted to her faith throughout her life. Most of all, Mary loved to be with her family, and thoroughly enjoyed when everyone came together.

Mary is survived by her children: Karl (Jolene), James (Susan), Don (Melissa) and daughter-in-law Debra, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Raymond (Judy) Peterson, sister-in-law Ruth Coleman, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours: Friday 4-7:00 pm, February 7, 2025 at Gang Funeral Home, 104 Fordham Road & Teall Avenue, Syracuse, NY. A vigil will follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday February 8th at Blessed Sacrament Church, James Street, Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa, NY.
