Obituary

Mangoldina "Goldie" Erika, 96, of Mattydale, NY died Sunday November 30,2025 at Samaritan Summit village, Watertown, NY. Memorial service will be at 11: 00 am Friday December 5, 2025, at Gang Memorial Chapel 104 Fordham Road Syracuse, and burial will be at the North Syracuse Cemetery, South Bay Road. Calling hour will be from 10-11 am.

Born in Regensburg, Germany, to Franz and Maria Berger on March 7, 1929, she came to Syracuse as a war bride and married Eero Ekila at holy trinity church. They made their home in Mattydale, where they resided for over 60 years. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Margarets Church. She and Eero also enjoyed their camp at Brennans beach (formerly Noto's green acres) on north sandy pond for over 35 years.

Goldie had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing with the Arion Singing Society for many years. We will miss her sharp wit and selfless love forever. She was the best mother and grandmother that anyone could ever ask for.

Goldie is survived by daughter Anne Marie (Karl) Reuss, granddaughters Kimberly Rielly and Kirsten (rick) gaskin; great grandchildren Michael, Lauren, Stephen, and Nicki Rielly; and God-son Daniel Murray. She was predeceased by her husband Eero, her beloved son Lenny and dearest friend Luise Murray.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Brookdale at Longbranch Park, Syracuse, and 4b Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown, for their professional and compassionate care. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to the:
