Spanky Hines

James R. "Spanky" Hines, 72, passed away peacefully at home. He was born to Charles and Alice Patricia Hines and was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He graduated from Assumption High School where he played basketball in the Parochial League and acquired the handle of "Spanky". He was an Air Force Sergeant Veteran of the Vietnam War. He first was employed as a Madison County Sheriff and later retired from New Process Gear Company. Spanky was a life member of the Pastime Athletic Club. He was an avid fan of Syracuse Football and Basketball. He was predeceased by his brother Daniel Hines. Spanky was prankster, joker and most of all was a very generous human being and will be missed.
He is survived by his son Shawn ( Kelly) Hines, four grandchildren Kaiden, Carter, Jakson, and Avery.
Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday March17th at 9:30am in Assumption Church. Burial in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours Wednesday 4-7pm at Gang Memorial Chapel 104 Fordham Rd. at Teall Ave.
