John A. Schmitz July 4, 2014 John "Jack" Schmitz, 96, passed away Friday at the home of his niece Patricia Kalfass of Cicero. He was a life resident of Syracuse. Jack was a Army Veteran of WWII. He retired in 1972 as a Lieutenant from the Syracuse Fire Department. He was a member of the Syracuse Fire Dept. Retirees. Jack was predeceased by his wife Peggy Walsh Schmitz in 2002. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Special Thanks to friend Steve Shoen for all his help through the years. Services 11:30 am Tuesday at Gang Memorial Chapel. 12:10PM in St. Daniel's Church, Court St. Entombment in Woodlawn Mausoleum. There are no calling hours.
