Gertrude (Trudy) Cannon passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11,2025, at Loretto in Syracuse, New York. Born on July 21, 1935, in Hyde Park, New York, Trudy was the youngest of thirteen children and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Trudy retired from Syracuse University, where she worked for many years in food services. In 1981, she joined the choir at Most Holy Rosary Church, where she formed a lifelong friendship with the church's music director, Bob Kraus, and his wife, Mary. What began as Trudy offering to babysit the Kraus family's young children soon became a 30-year relationship filled with love, care, and mutual support. Trudy became an integral part of the Kraus family and a beloved presence in their lives.

She is lovingly remembered by her extended family: Bob and Mary Kraus, and their children Michael, Patrick, Daniel, Robbie, and Kailyn. Trudy's kindness, loyalty, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The Kraus family will hold a private celebration of Trudy's life in December.
