Carl J Bauder- May 31, 2023

Carl Joseph Bauder, 88, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the Jewish Home at Menorah Park. He was born in Syracuse, where he grew up and went to school at Vocational High School. He put himself through college, attending General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, earning his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and participating as a proud member of the Gilgale Fraternity. He returned to Syracuse and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Betty) Bogensperger. He worked for General Motors until taking the opportunity to join Cambridge Filter Corporation. Carl enjoyed a fulfilling career at Cambridge, becoming their chief engineer and earning several patents, until retiring at the age of 55. He celebrated his German heritage by actively participating in the Arion Stein Club and he sang in the men's choir of the Arion Singing Society. He loved spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors; hunting, fishing, planting trees, raising trout, making wine, and doing any and all projects at the family camps of McCavanaugh Pond and Truxton. He loved to travel with his wife and their friends. He was fun loving and always worked to get a rise out of his grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Anna Bauder, sister Kathryn Riley, daughter Lisa Ganley, and love of his life Elizabeth, to whom he was married for almost 60 years.

He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Riley, cousin Frank (Cindy Day) Stille, and many cousins in Germany. He leaves his daughter Sue Ann (Ronald) Archibee, his son Carl Stephen (Maria) Bauder, seven grandchildren, Christopher (Ralph Elwell) Archibee, Benjamin (Katrina) Archibee, Casey (Grace) Ganley, Daniel Ganley, Carl Richard Bauder, Joshua Bauder, Julia Bauder, and three great- grandchildren, Zoe Elwell, Finley Archibee and Ruth Ganley.

Friends and family can join to celebrate Carl's life on Monday June 5, from 4-7 pm at Gang Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Tuesday June 6 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in Carl's name.
