Tim Featherstone, age 62 went to Rock and Roll Heaven, with his family by his side, on August 17th. Affectionately known as “Rocket”, as much for the way he lived as for the way he played the drums, he was a tremendous, passionate man about everything he touched, the music he played and the people he loved. He was extremely proud of the work he did with 2 of Syracuse’s best hard rock bands of the 80’s, Zipper and 13 Hertz. Tim’s favorite band of all time was “The Who”, and Keith Moon was his inspiration as a rock drummer and legend.
Tim worked the last 20 years at Syracuse University where he made great friends with his co-workers. He truly loved that environment and often marveled at the things the students left behind when they went on their breaks. Prior to that, Tim was a very skilled roofer and sider for “Scott Roofing”, “Al Foster Roofing”, and “G & J Remodeling” and if you were driving with him, he loved to point out the homes he did work on and explain to you what he loved about that particular job. His work was always important, and he was very proud of it.
Tim loved his family and is survived by his wife Maria, son David, brothers Michael (Ellen) and Chaz, sisters Kathleen (Joseph) Knittel and Victoria Featherstone, In Law’s Hank and Lorraine Walters, Sister in Law Melissa Rebensky and Gina Walters, great friend Donna, and many nieces and nephews.
Tim’s passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of many and will be remembered forever. He is at peace now and out of pain. His life and music have just started. We love you Bug.
